Following the announcement of the Fairtrade City status, there was a hostile letter in the Hampshire Chronicle which denounced the Fairtrade movement through some grossly misinformed claims. However this was followed by three supportive letters over two weeks, Winchester City Fairtrade Network also responded to the negative letter.
